Pakistan violates ceasefire LIVE: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke to India’s National Security Advisory (NSA) Ajit Doval and expressed hope that New Delhi and Islamabad would address their differences through dialogue and achieve a lasting ceasefire.

India Pakistan Ceasefire LIVE: US President Donald Trump on Sunday lauded the “strong and unwaveringly powerful” leadership shown by India and Pakistan in achieving a ceasefire, stating that their courageous decision significantly enhances their legacy.

The two nations agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control and International Border on Saturday.

“I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to to the death and destruction of so many, and so much,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

“Millions of good and innocent people could have died! Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions,” he said.

“I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade substantially with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years,” a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!!!”

Earlier on Saturday, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country would continue to stand by Pakistan in upholding its “sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence”.

Hours after India and Pakistan agreed to halt firing, blasts were heard in Jammu city and projectiles were spotted in the sky. Gunshots and multiple blasts were also heard in Srinagar; while Udhampur was plunged into darkness after a blackout for the third consecutive day.

On Saturday late evening, projectiles were seen in the sky in Jammu city. Shelling was also heard in Akhnoor, Udhampur. Air raid sirens were also heard in Rajasthan’s Barmer.

Till date, a complete blackout has been enforced in Udhampur, Srinagar, Moga, Pathankot, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Vaishno Devi Temple, Ferozepur, Patiala, Ambala.

Earlier in the day, India and Pakistan had agreed to halt all firing and military operations on land and in the air starting from 5 PM today, said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. 

What is a ceasefire?

A ceasefire is a situation in which each side agrees with the other to suspend military actions, and halt firing often due to mediation by a third party.

 As per FS Vikram Misri, the original escalation began with the Pahalgam attacks on April 22, that killed 26 people, majorly tourists.
